Don’t miss out on some fun with the family before school is back in session with these events in the area!

August 1-13, 2022: Summer Circus Spectacular Drive on down to the Historic Asolo Theatre, 5410 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota, FL for some of the finest circus acts from around the world. Presented by the Ringling Museum in collaboration with The Circus Act Conservatory, you won’t want to miss this! Show times are 11 am. And 2 p.m. Tuesday- Friday and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Tickets are $18 Adults/ $12 Children 12 and under.

August 5, 2022: Music on Main Street Enjoy date night with this free monthly street party from 6 p.m.- 9p.m. The street is lined with food vendors, live music,  beer trucks, sponsor booths, and fun activities for kids of all ages. Bring your chairs, and your furry friends, and enjoy your night at Lakewood Ranch off University parkway east of I-75.

August 6, 2022: 6th Annual Tiki Fest Enjoy authentic island music and dance at various locations on Charlotte Harbor. The Hawaiian Band of Orlando will be playing at 12 noon, 1 and 2:30 p.m. at Center Court, with live music continuing on all day until 9 p.m. Stroll down Punta Gorda and enjoy a day of waterfront restaurants and shopping. Free admission and parking! Fisherman’s Village, 1200 W. Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda, FL.

August 6, 2022: Florida Penguin’s Sarasota Back-to-School Bash This free event presented by State College of Florida will feature kids activities, performers, a business expo, an interactive scavenger hunt, and much more! There will be free give aways, school supplies, and activities for kids. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 3:00 p.m. at The Mall at University Town Center.

August 12, 2022: The Van Wezel’s Friday Fest After 2 years of shutdown due to covid, Friday Fest is back! This Friday Fest will include performances from Big Night Out, a variety dance band that performs Latin, R&B and island dance music. Free Admission! Bring blankets and chairs for views of the Florida sunset and enjoy food and drinks from local vendors. 5 p.m.-9 p.m at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Lawn, 777 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL.

August 14 and 28, 2022,: Nathan Benderson Park Rec Day! Enjoy activities on the water, family-style, at the base of the finish tower on Regatta Island. With a fee of $10 per person and $5 per adult with an accompanying child, you will have the chance to try stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoes, fishing and more! 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nathan Benderson Park, 5851 Nathan Benderson circle, Sarasota, FL.

August 23 – 27, 2022: The 2022 Sarasota Slam Held at Marina Jacks this annual fishing tournament hosted by Big Naasty Fishing charters features a Billfish, Offshore, Inshore and Junior Angler Divisions. The Weigh In is on August 27th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an awards ceremony immediately following and a dockside barbeque and party to celebrate the winners. Bayfront, downtown Sarasota, FL.
