Tips to Stay Safe While Venturing Out During Covid-19

Now that Florida has the go ahead to start opening nonessential businesses, it is more important than ever to do what you can to stay healthy. It is suggested to stay home when possible but if you must go out, we have some great tips for social distancing in public spaces.

The Basics

When reentering public spaces, it is imperative to do it safely. Only visit one public place a day if you can help it. It’s also recommended to distance yourself at least 6 feet from other people as well as wear a cloth mask, wash your hands frequently and most importantly, do not go out if you or someone that you are caring for is sick.

Restaurants

Wearing a mask is not practical when you’re dining, but there are other preventive measures that can be done before, during, and after eating out.  Start by checking out their safety protocols, such as tables being placed six feet apart, and checking to see if employees are wearing mask. Be sure to wash your hands when you arrive at the restaurant, before eating, and when you are finished eating. Try not to stay at the restaurant for extended periods of time, as the virus circulates more effectively in enclosed spaces.

Public Transportation and Airports

Before you head out, it is important to ask yourself if you are leaving for an essential task, and if you are heading to an essential location. When taking public transportation, or flying, you should avoid peak hours and limit your contact. Many people are choosing to carry disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer to clean everything the previous passenger may have touched. If possible, try to sit apart, keeping the 6-foot distancing rule is the best way to practice social distancing.

Ultimately, the best way to curb the spread is to stay at home if you can. If you have decided to go into a public setting be sure to follow these safety measures to help avoid your chance of getting sick. Most importantly, stay safe out there!
