For every dollar that is spent at a small business 67 cents stays in the local community.
The Impact of Small Business Saturday
Small business Saturday was created by American Express nine years ago to help smaller companies get more customers. Small Business Saturday not only helps small businesses thrive but also, helps support local jobs. For every ten jobs at a small business another seven are supported in the local community. Since Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 each year the participation continues to increase.
Almost all consumers have said the Small Business Saturday has encouraged them to go out and support independently owned businesses. As more and more consumers tend to shop online rather than in stores, 59% plan to shop at small independently owned online sites this Small Business Saturday.
Consumers say this movement has had a huge positive impact on their community and they will be supporting small businesses this holiday season more than previous years, either in person or online. Based on a recent survey by American Express, 83% of consumer will do at least some of their holiday shopping at a small business.
Help support your community this Saturday and get some holiday shopping done at a local independently owned retailer.
