Palmetto Receives Financial Support For New Sheraton Hotel

Four decades after the construction of the Bradenton Area Convention Center, Palmetto is getting financial help from the state to make the facility more attractive for conferences and other events.

Support

Governor Ron DeSantis recently announced that Palmetto will receive $1.5 million to improve the area near the convention center. Not only will this money help support the construction of the Palmetto Sheraton Hotel, but will also be used for improving the streets, water, sewer, and stormwater adjacent the convention center. With this help from the state Department of Economic Opportunity’s Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant, developers hope to break ground in April 2020.

Plan

This project calls for two new hotels and retail space, along with an outdoor space for concert and other events. The Sheraton Hotel will feature 251 rooms, and a rooftop lounge. There is also the possibility for over 40 new jobs, new businesses, and new opportunities for residents. Local officials are focusing on this project, as it will be huge for the community.
